Play at Dog-Friendly Beaches
While the famous Daytona Beach shoreline isn’t open to dogs, there are many other beaches in the area that are. One of the most popular dog-friendly beaches in Daytona Beach is Lighthouse Point Park. This beach has a long stretch of golden sand and crashing waves that your furry family member can enjoy for hours.
But Lighthouse Point Park certainly isn’t the only dog-friendly beach in town. The Smyrna Dunes Park, Bethune Beach, Flagler Beach, and New Smyrna Beach are all fantastic options as well.
Explore the Many Dog Parks in Daytona Beach
Make time for your pup to enjoy the Florida sunshine at the many Daytona Beach dog parks. First, there’s the Halifax Humane Society Dog Park, complete with colorful agility courses, water stations, and separate play areas for small and large dogs.
Then, there’s Happy Tails Dog Park. This small park has spigot water bowls, doggy bags, and separate play areas for small and large pets. In other words, your furry friend will have all of the necessities for a fun day in the sun.
And those two parks are just the start! You can also check out Manatee Island Park, Riviera Oaks Dog Park, Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park, and Seemor Memorial Dog Park for other fun places for your furry friend to play.
Take a Dog-Friendly Paddleboard Tour
One of the coolest things to do in Daytona Beach with dogs is go on a paddleboarding adventure! Three Brothers Boards offers paddleboarding tours on the Halifax River, and dogs are very welcome. Along the way, the two of you will get to see dolphins, manatees, and so much more. And don’t worry—neither you nor your furry friend need to have any paddleboarding experience to join.

Pay a Visit to Brownie the Town Dog’s Memorial
Brownie the Town Dog (not to be confused with Brownie the Post Office Dog) was a beloved stray dog who lived in Daytona Beach from 1939 to 1954. Since Brownie didn’t belong to a single family, he instead belonged to the entire town. He lived in a custom-made dog house, had all the steak and ice cream he could ever want, and even had a bank account at the Florida Bank & Trust.
When Brownie passed away in 1954, the town set up a memorial for him at Daytona Beach’s Riverfront Park. Today, you can pay a visit to this memorial and learn a little more about this well-loved dog.
